What is a Megapixel?

Megapixels refer the the quality of the picture a camera can produce. In the early 1990’s most cameras were only 1 – 2 MP.  Remember your first digital camera? looked fine didn’t it.

Now cameras have large MP numbers but you only need a high MP, say over 4, if you are going to print large photos.  If you are  going to use your camera for normal occasions; outtings, family and friends, vacation, a 3.MP dital camera is fine.

If you plan to print your pictures larger than 8 x 10, a standard photo is  4 x 6, then consider buying a higher MP model.
